Prime Minister Distributed Smart Mobile Phone and KISAN SIM to Provide Agro-met Advisory Services to farmers of Jhapa District

In January 3, 2017- PPCR:AMIS Project implemented under Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) again received an opportunity to distribute KISAN SIM and “Hamro KRISHI” mobile application installed Smart Mobile Phone to farmers of Jhapa district by Right Honorable, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) where he said that the government’s policy was to increase the attraction of youths towards agriculture by making quantitative growth in production in agricultural sector. The distribution ceremony was held during inauguration of the Paddy Super Zone Programme under the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernisation Project in Baniyani, Jhapa which has been launched in 1,000 hectares of land in Balwadi, Baniyani, Pathamari, Prithvinagar, Kechana and Pathariya VDCs in Jhapa district from this year.

Prime Minister in his speech further said that super zone programme has been introduced in all seven  provinces where Jhapa has been identified as a Super Zone for Paddy.  Prime Minister expressed his happiness in his speech due to rise in agro productivity this year together with the possibility of country’s economic, social and political advancements closely tied with agricultural growth. Similarly, Honorable Minister for Agriculture Development, Gauri Shankar Chaudhary, stressed on the need for modern agriculture system, saying expected benefits cannot be achieved without modernizing the agriculture sector. He further added that Information and communication technologies (ICT) are valuable tools to improve communication and build a bridge between experts and farmers providing latest agro-climate information services, climate smart production technologies, insect-pest and disease management, market prices, availability of seeds, pesticides and fertilizers.

Likewise, Chief Whip of the CPN (UML), Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal pointed out the need ofprioritizing agriculturalsector for the development and prosperity of the country while Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, expressed the view that the Nepali people should be united for sustainable peace and development. Respected Secretary at the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD), Dr. SurojPokharel, said that mechanization and commercialization along with growth in agriculture sector will accelerate in the coming days asthe government has envisioned of being self-reliant in agriculture products that can be produced within the country as the import of agriculture products has been surging every passing year.  Director General, of Department of Agriculture, Dr.Yubakdhoj GC, elucidated on various aspects of sustainable development of agricultural sector.
